Where to take the G1 test
The G1 knowledge test is handled by DriveTest, the province's official testing provider. You visit a DriveTest centre to do your vision test and the knowledge test in person.
What the fee covers
Here's the part that surprises people: the application fee isn't only for the knowledge test. It bundles together:
- the knowledge test itself,
- your first road test (the one that moves you from G1 to G2), and
- a five-year licensing fee.
So a single upfront payment covers more than one step of the journey. There are extra charges later (for example, a second road test or a retest), and you prepay when you book a road test.
